
4th March 2026, London – Bolt Insight, the global insights and market research company behind BoltChatAI, has today announced the launch of Video Emotion Analysis, a new feature that enables its platform to analyse video and audio responses for behavioural cues, adding a new layer of depth to qualitative insight.
With Video Emotion Analysis, BoltChatAI now automatically reviews video and audio submissions and enriches each quote within the question analysis report with behavioural context.
The system detects four types of cues:
- Body cues: posture, gestures, hand movements, body orientation, nervous habits and signals of openness versus closedness
- Vocal cues: tone, pitch, pace, volume, hesitations, emphasis and emotional undertone, focusing purely on paralinguistic elements
- Facial cues: expressions and micro-expressions, eye movement, brow position and smile or frown patterns
- Object and environment cues: relevant background elements and interacted items linked to emotional context, with strict guardrails to avoid personally identifiable information
These cues are analysed alongside the transcript to determine whether they reinforce the stated sentiment or suggest a potential Say – Do gap. When a discrepancy is identified, for example when the text suggests “joy” as the dominant emotion but vocal tone does not support it, the system highlights the inconsistency within the report using a visual alert.
